Pasadena dog park not cutting it? Try Fiesta Island in San Diego!

Pasadena dog park not cutting it?  Try Fiesta Island in San Diego!

As the owner of a Pasadena pet sitting company, I love taking my dog to the Pasadena dog park on weekends.  But sometimes, we all need a little change of scenery.

Although I’ve been to some of the local dog beaches, none compare to Fiesta Island down in San Diego.  It’s a dog park that’s got 3 distinct areas.  There’s the sandy dune area, wide open field area and my personal favorite the beach!  Although my dog Joey generally doesn’t like water, she makes an exception here and does not hesitate to jump right in!

Check out the videos below.  Feel free to email us for directions and the best times to go (traffic can turn this 1 1/2 hour drive into a 3 hour ordeal).

Dogs available for adoption at the San Gabriel Valley Human Society

Dogs available for adoption at the San Gabriel Valley Human Society

As the owner of a Pasadena dog walking company, we donate some of our weekends at various shelters throughout the San Gabriel Valley – most notably the San Gabriel Valley and Pasadena shelters.  Although the Pasadena pet shelter gets most of the publicity in the area, the San Gabriel Humane Society does a great job as well.  Click on the links to meet some of the volunteers as well as some dogs that are available.  The video was shot at a fundraiser held at Pink’s Hot Dogs featuring David Hasselhoff and his daughters.

David Hasselhoff sells “Hoff Dogs” for the San Gabriel Valley Humane Society

David Hasselhoff sells “Hoff Dogs” for the San Gabriel Valley Humane Society

This weekend, the SGV Shelter was able to participate in a really neat volunteer opportunity.  We were asked to participate in David Hasselhoff’s new reality tv show which was held at Pink’s Hot Dogs.  Customers who donated were given passes to the front of the line, an autograph and photo with David Hasselhoff.

As the owner of a Pasadena pet sitting company, it’s great to see famous celebrities and establishments help non-profits raise money and awareness.  His daughters were also at the event and were working the lines and even standing on the corner of Melrose and La Brea to generate awareness.  Overall, a great day!

Visit to the South Pasadena Pet Animal Hospital

Visit to the South Pasadena Pet Animal Hospital

As the owner of a Pasadena pet sitting service, we always err on the side of caution when it comes to a pet’s health.  A lab belonging to a Pasadena dog boarding client was doing well but was experiencing diahrea for 2 days.  On the 3rd day we decided to make an appointment with their vet – Dr. Chaudry.

Although there were 3 groups ahead of me, I only had to wait about 15 minutes to see the doctor.  I appreciated Dr. Chaudry’s no-nonsense approach.  You can tell he’s not there to nickle and dime you.  The receptionist was extremely nice as well.  The best part was the price – very reasonable.  Check out some of his reviews on Yelp!

If you’ve just picked up a new dog or cat from the Pasadena shelter, I’d putting Dr. Chaudry on your list of vets to interview and consider.

Pasadena pet owners – Who you gonna call when your pet goes missing?

Pasadena pet owners – Who you gonna call when your pet goes missing?

As the owner of a Pasadena pet sitting company (and a dog owner), a missing pet is your worst nightmare.  I assure you that 9 out of 10 people would probably scour the neighborhood, create fliers, call vets and visit the Pasadena shelter.

If you are a Pasadena dog or cat owner, the best thing you can do is call a pet detective.  Although this service comes at a premium, it will save you hours work and stress.

We’ve worked with Landa Coldiron of Lost Pet Detection.  I can tell you first-hand she is top notch and helped one of our clients find their pet the same day she came out.  Make sure she’s the first person you call if/when your pet goes missing.

Lifeline for Pets – a great Pasadena pet rescue group

Lifeline for Pets – a great Pasadena pet rescue group

As the owner of a Pasadena pet services company, I run into a lot of animal lovers.  Over the holidays, I met Kathy from Lifeline for Pets.  Kathy was entitled to a cash reward because she had found a dog that was lost by a Pasadena dog boarder.  However, rather than taking the cash for herself, she asked that the reward be written directly to Lifeline for Pets.

The next time you think about stopping by the Pasadena shelter for your new pet, try checking out Lifeline  for Pets instead – http://www.lifelineforpets.org.  It is run by people just like Kathy – people who reach into their own pockets to help dogs and cats find a loving home.  They’re always looking for volunteers.  If you’d like to lend a hand, click here for more information.
