We’re working with yet another great Pasadena shelter/rescue group!

We just wanted to let everyone know Fetch Pet Care of NW San Gabriel Valley has teamed up with the Cat Posse.  Check back every so often as the Cat Posse would like to begin posting their adoptable cats on this blog.  In the meantime, please see below for some dogs available for any potential Pasadena dog owners.  Please stop by the Centinela Pasadena pet store and say hi to Sharon and Jani or visit their website at http://www.catposse.org/.

“POCKET”

Breed: Lab/Pit Mix

Location: Altadena, CA

Sex: Male

Age: 10 Months

POCKET WAS LEFT IN A BOX ON A BUS BENCH WHEN HE WAS A VERY SMALL PUPPY.  THE GIRL WHO FOUND HIM COULD FIT HIM IN HER POCKET, AND HE LIVED THERE FOR QUITE SOME TIME, SO THAT IS WHERE HIS NAME CAME FROM.  POCKET IS GREAT WITH ALL PEOPLE AND DOGS, BUT WE ARE UNSURE ABOUT CATS.  HE DEFINITELY NEEDS TRAINING, AS THE GIRL WHO RESCUED HIM HAD NO IDEA WHAT TO DO WITH HIM, BUT HE IS A LOVING DOG WHO WOULD LOVE TO FIND A FAMILY OR PERSON ALL HIS OWN.  WOULD BE GREAT FOR AN “ACTIVE” PERSON WHO LOVES TO HIKE, OR RUN, AS HE HAS A TON OF ENERGY.  POCKET IS APPROX. 10 MONTHS OLD, HAS BEEN NEUTERED, VACCINATED, AND WAS ALSO MICROCHIPPED.  HE WEIGHS APPROXIMATELY 57 POUNDS.  IF YOU OR SOMEONE YOU KNOW IS INTERESTED IN ADOPTING HIM (there will be a contract and adoption fee), PLEASE CONTACT SHARON AT 626/676-7648 OR E-MAIL ME AT SEBASTIAN_SOPHIE@YAHOO.COM

“RAY”

Breed: Jindo(?) Mix

Location: Altadena, CA

Sex: Male

Age: 7 Years

RAY IS A PRODUCT OF A DIVORCE.  HIS “MOM” MOVED OUT OF HER HOUSE AND HER HUSBAND DIDN’T LIKE DOGS SO SHE ASKED HER NEIGHBORS (WHO USED TO SNEAK HIM BISCUITS THROUGH THE FENCE EVERY DAY!) IF THEY WOULD TAKE HIM SO HE WOULDN’T HAVE TO GO TO THE SHELTER.  OF COURSE THEY SAID YES, AND THEY WOULD LOVE TO KEEP HIM IF THEY COULD, BUT THEIR DOG IS VERY DOG AGGRESSIVE, SO RAY IS LIVING IN A DOG RUN.  HE HAS A TON OF ENERGY SO WOULD BE GOOD FOR SOMEONE THAT LIKES TO HIKE, OR RUN. RAY IS APPROX. 7 YEARS OLD, HAS BEEN NEUTERED, VACCINATED, AND WAS ALSO MICROCHIPPED.  HE WEIGHS APPROXIMATELY 65 POUNDS.  NOT SURE HOW HE IS WITH OTHER DOGS OR CATS, BUT HE IS EXTREMELY SWEET WITH PEOPLE AND NOT AGGRESSIVE AT ALL.   IF YOU OR SOMEONE YOU KNOW IS INTERESTED IN ADOPTING HIM (there will be a contract and adoption fee), PLEASE CONTACT SHARON AT 626/676-7648 OR E-MAIL ME AT SEBASTIAN_SOPHIE@YAHOO.COM

Shop Whole Foods on May 5 to help a local Pasadena pet rescue group

Shop Whole Foods on May 5 to help a local Pasadena pet rescue group

As a small business, we love it when large corporations lend a helping hand.  I’ve seen Whole Foods at several Pasadena dog events raising money for the Pasadena shelter.  However, they’ve gone a step further and are helping smaller animal rescue groups such as Lifeline for Pets.

To help out the folks over at Lifeline for Pets, please shop at the Whole Foods on Foothill on May 5, 2010.  5% of all receipts will go towards their group!  We’ve worked with this group and they’re a great bunch of people – a special shout out goes to Kathy Hart!  Please contact their group if you would like to volunteer or donate.

Pasadena pet sitter needs your opinion for a survey!

Pasadena pet sitter needs your opinion for a survey!

As the owner of a Pasadena dog walking company, we’re in a position to help educate Pasadena pet owners.  As part of a new project we are working on, please click the link below to fill out a quick survey.  One of the focuses of this project is to reduce the number of dogs taken in and euthanized by the San Gabriel and Pasadena shelters.  We thank you in advance for your contribution!

Dogs available for adoption at the San Gabriel Valley Human Society

Dogs available for adoption at the San Gabriel Valley Human Society

As the owner of a Pasadena dog walking company, we donate some of our weekends at various shelters throughout the San Gabriel Valley – most notably the San Gabriel Valley and Pasadena shelters.  Although the Pasadena pet shelter gets most of the publicity in the area, the San Gabriel Humane Society does a great job as well.  Click on the links to meet some of the volunteers as well as some dogs that are available.  The video was shot at a fundraiser held at Pink’s Hot Dogs featuring David Hasselhoff and his daughters.

Visit to the South Pasadena Pet Animal Hospital

Visit to the South Pasadena Pet Animal Hospital

As the owner of a Pasadena pet sitting service, we always err on the side of caution when it comes to a pet’s health.  A lab belonging to a Pasadena dog boarding client was doing well but was experiencing diahrea for 2 days.  On the 3rd day we decided to make an appointment with their vet – Dr. Chaudry.

Although there were 3 groups ahead of me, I only had to wait about 15 minutes to see the doctor.  I appreciated Dr. Chaudry’s no-nonsense approach.  You can tell he’s not there to nickle and dime you.  The receptionist was extremely nice as well.  The best part was the price – very reasonable.  Check out some of his reviews on Yelp!

If you’ve just picked up a new dog or cat from the Pasadena shelter, I’d putting Dr. Chaudry on your list of vets to interview and consider.

Pasadena pet owners – Who you gonna call when your pet goes missing?

Pasadena pet owners – Who you gonna call when your pet goes missing?

As the owner of a Pasadena pet sitting company (and a dog owner), a missing pet is your worst nightmare.  I assure you that 9 out of 10 people would probably scour the neighborhood, create fliers, call vets and visit the Pasadena shelter.

If you are a Pasadena dog or cat owner, the best thing you can do is call a pet detective.  Although this service comes at a premium, it will save you hours work and stress.

We’ve worked with Landa Coldiron of Lost Pet Detection.  I can tell you first-hand she is top notch and helped one of our clients find their pet the same day she came out.  Make sure she’s the first person you call if/when your pet goes missing.
